About the function
As a Crane Operator / Inspector, you’ll play a versatile role on the yard of a leading metal recycling company in Nijmegen. You’ll operate a mobile crane to unload, sort, and prepare incoming metals for further processing. In addition to working on the crane, you’ll assess and inspect the materials that come in, ensuring safety and quality are always the top priority. You’ll also perform basic maintenance on your crane and collaborate with your colleagues to keep operations running smoothly. A typical day brings plenty of variety. You’ll begin with a daily team briefing to review the tasks ahead. Your duties include unloading trucks, sorting metals, and loading heavy equipment. You’ll regularly interact with customers and suppliers, and you’re encouraged to actively contribute ideas for process improvements. Flexibility is key, as you’ll pitch in wherever needed and support your teammates. You help maintain a safe and structured workplace, making sure everything runs efficiently. What we need
- Minimum vocational (MBO) working and thinking level
- 1 to 5 years of experience as a crane operator (experience with loader or forklift is a plus)
- Proficiency in Dutch
- Affinity with technology and metals
- Knowledge of metals is a plus, but not required (in-house training provided)
- Strong focus on safety, precision, and stress resistance
- In possession of a VCA certificate or willing to obtain one
- Team player, proactive, enthusiastic, flexible, with a good sense of humor
